April 18, 2016: Montefiore Nyack Hospital proudly announces that Bruce Levitt, DO, FACOI, was recently honored as the recipient of the 2016 “Unsung Hero Award” by the New State York Osteopathic Medical Society (NYSOMS). The award, which was presented at the President’s Reception of the Regional Osteopathic Convention in Hauppauge, NY, on April 1, 2016, was given in recognition of Dr. Levitt’s unwavering commitment to patient care, excellent bedside manner, and mentorship of students. Dr. Levitt is an Internal Medicine physician with Clarkstown Medical Associates in New City, NY, a member of Highland Medical, P.C., which is affiliated with Montefiore Nyack Hospital. He continues his family’s long heritage of healing as a third generation physician. Dr. Levitt received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Internship, Internal Medicine Residency, and Chief Residency at Baptist Medical Center of New York in Brooklyn, NY.

Prior to relocating to Rockland County in 1990 to be closer to his family, Dr. Levitt provided medical care to the underserved populations in West Virginia. During this time, Dr. Levitt helped develop protocols for thrombolytic therapy for use in Myocardial infarctions while serving as Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV.
