Lee Fleischer, MD, FACS
Director of Surgical Services at Montefiore Nyack Hospital
Dr. Fleischer is a board certified leading laparoscopic and robotic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal disease, hernias, and breast diseases, both benign and malignant. He is Director of the Department of Surgery at Montefiore Nyack Hospital, and practices with Highland Surgical Associates in West Nyack, NY. Dr. Fleischer is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Additionally, he has mentored surgeons in the art of laparoscopic surgery and is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Touro medical School.
Since 2005 Dr. Fleischer has been consistently ranked as a “Top Doctor” by Castle Connolly and since 2008 in Hudson Valley Magazine as well as being listed in the “Top Guide to America’s Top Surgeons” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America.
Dr. Fleischer earned his medical doctorate from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He completed his General Surgery Internship, Residency and Chief Residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, traveling and the great outdoors on his motorcycle.
Adrienne Fueg, MD, FACS
Dr. Fueg is a board certified surgeon who specializes in general, breast and advanced laparoscopic surgery. She has been practicing medicine for 20 years and currently practices with Highland Surgical Associates in West Nyack, NY. She was an attending physician at Elk Regional Medical Center in St. Mary’s Pennsylvania for five years and had a private practice in the Bronx for seven years prior to joining Highland Surgical.
Dr. Fueg earned her medical degree from SUNY-Health Science Center at Brooklyn. She completed her General Surgery Residency at Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center, New York Medical College, and Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, New York Medical College. In addition, she completed a Critical Care Fellowship at Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center.
She is a member of the Society of Women Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Surgeons as well as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephew, hockey, travel, exercise and sewing.
Her research has been published in The Journal of the American College of Surgeons, Psychopharmacology and Brain Research.
Ziad N. Kronfol, MD, FACS, FASCRS
Dr. Kronfol is a board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeon practicing at Highland Medical, Highland Surgical Associates in West Nyack, NY. Dr. Kronfol received his board certification in both general surgery and colon and rectal surgery from the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, respectively. He specializes in anorectal surgical procedures, laparoscopic and robotic minimally invasive colon and rectal surgery, transanal minimally invasive surgery, endoscopy procedures, as well as general surgery. He has a particular interest in colon and rectal cancer, anal cancer, diverticulitis, pelvic floor disorders, inflammatory bowel disease and anorectal pathology such as hemorrhoids, fissures, perirectal abscesses and fistula.
Dr. Kronfol comes to Highland Medical, from Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group where he served as the Director of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. Dr. Kronfol was involved in numerous hospital committees including being Chair of the Endoscopy Committee, Cancer Liaison Physician for the Cancer Committee, and Chair of the Credentials Committee, among others.
Dr. Kronfol earned his medical doctorate from the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Beirut, Lebanon. He completed his General Surgery internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN and his General Surgery Residency at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in El Paso, TX. Dr. Kronfol completed his Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, NY.
He is a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Kronfol has presented at many academic conferences and seminars and has several publications. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, sports and spending time with family.
Aleksandr Rakhlin, MD, FACS
Dr. Rakhlin is a respected board certified laparoscopic and robotic surgeon and minimally invasive surgical specialist. He practices with Highland Surgical Associates in West Nyack, NY.
Dr. Rakhlin earned his medical doctorate from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery Residency and Chief Residency at New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center. In addition, he completed a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at the New York Institute of Laparoscopy, New York Medical College.
Additionally, Dr. Rakhlin is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and was an Instructor in Surgery at New York Medical College, Department of Surgery. Dr. Rakhlin speaks Russian. In his spare time he enjoys playing classical guitar, woodworking and travel. He has presented research on the following topics:

Lawrence F. Simon, MD, FACS
Dr. Simon is Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and was previously the Director of Surgical Services and Medical Director of the Wound Care Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. He practices with Highland Surgical Associates in West Nyack, NY, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Dr. Simon has held leadership positions with several associations in the county including, President of the Rockland County Unit of the American Cancer Society, a member of the Executive Board of the Rockland County Medical Society, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Rockland County PSRO. Dr. Simon earned his medical doctorate from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. He completed his Internship and Residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York.
Dr. Simon proudly served as Major in the United States Air Force.
In his spare time, Dr. Simon enjoys boating, spinning, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Stefanie Sokoloff, BS, MS, PA-C
Stefanie Sokoloff, BS, MS, PA-C is a physician assistant with over fifteen years of experience in the Montefiore Nyack Hospital Emergency Department. Stefanie has joined Highland Medical as a surgical PA. She will be assisting the Highland Surgical surgeons in the operating room and with the care of surgical patients. She received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. In her free time, she enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with family.
